Program for Colorado Teachers:
Our professional learning program is an intensive, highly supportive program designed to prepare educators to provide high quality computer science instruction. The 2021-22 programs will be virtual. The program includes:
  • A five-day virtual summer workshop, July 19-23, will fully prepare educators to utilize Code.org curricula and teacher support systems.
  • Four one-day Saturday workshops during the school year when teachers will reconvene for ongoing training and just-in-time support.
  • Additional opportunities for online and face-to-face networking and collaboration with peers throughout the year.
Colorado teachers have THREE options to cover the cost of this program. Regardless of which option is used for covering the cost, all applicants must complete the full teacher application using the link below.
Option 1: Apply for a scholarship. Do you teach in a high needs school, or a school with a diverse student population? Is funding for computer science limited in your district? We have limited scholarships available for teachers in Colorado. Our scholarships cover the full $1,500 program fee.
Option 2: Check for state funding through the Colorado Department of Education CS Grant opportunity! Use the CDE CS grant to fund participation in the 2021-22 program. Check out information about the grant here: CS Teacher Education Grant and CS Education Grant.
New: Connect with your district administrators to explore using ESSER funding for CS PD!
Option 3: Pay $1,500 per teacher through your school or district. That’s 50% off the national cost thanks to our generous supporters: The Morgridge Family Foundation and Code.org. Check with your school or districts to see if PD funds are available.
Please Note:
  • 4 graduate level credits available for accepted cohort participants ($65 per credit paid directly to UNC)
  • Up to $400 in teacher stipends for implementing curriculum and attending quarterly workshops
  • The program fee covers the full year-long program including your teaching materials, workshop supplies, and 9 days of professional development.
  • A meal card will be provided to you for use during the summer workshop week.
  • The curriculum, online student learning platform, and access to support from the teacher and Code.org community are available to all schools year round, free of charge.
