  • Use LEGOs to build an object.
  • While building, take pictures at different stages - OR -
  • Take a picture of your object, then modify or move it, then take another picture...continue until you have 5-10 different pictures of your object

What are your plans this weekend (March 2-3)?

The annual Boulder Maker Faire is happening this weekend up at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont.  The event brings together individuals, companies, organizations and schools that are all focused on Making and on sharing STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) awesomeness!  If you go, you'll have the opportunity to engage in hands on exhibits, activities and workshops that focus on:  
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Robotics and Electronics
  • Building and Making
  • Science in Action
If you are interested in going, you can purchase half-price tickets by going to:  www.gosteamfest.com and entering the code (TeachSTEAM50).  

They are also still looking for volunteers--for helping with the crowds, set-up and clean-up.  If you volunteer, you will get:

Get Slimed!!!  (Recipes for 1-16-19 Maker Club Meeting)

Ever wonder about how slime is made? 
Check out this video to learn more about the science of slime!

Basic Slime Recipes

Classic Slime
  • 4 oz white school glue
  • 4 oz water
  • Food coloring
  • 2 Tbsp borax solution (made by mixing 1 Tbsp of borax powder with 1 cup warm water)

Borax-Free Slime
  • 4 oz white school glue
  • 2 oz water
  • 1/2 Tbsp baking soda
  • Food coloring
  • 1 Tbsp contact lens solution

Butter Slime
  • Model Magic Clay
  • Shaving Cream
  • Food Coloring
General Slime-Making Process
  1. Get tools.  You will be making one batch of slime with your partner.  
  2. Measure out glue and water into your red cup, then use the spoon to mix.  
  3. Optional: Add special additives (iron filings, glitter, food coloring, glow material, styrofoam beads, etc)
  4. Measure and add baking soda and saline solution OR borax solution.
  5. Stir, stir, stir!!! 
  6. Don't like your slime yet?  Add/adjust ingredients one at a time to modify/improve your slime.
Possible Modifications / Additives:
  • glitter
  • glow material (filament from highlighter soaked in water)
  • iron filings
  • styrofoam beads
